Here and There
Here and There – By Wes Price
A number of the Jefferson Boulevard members were present for a special anniversary program at the Edgefield Iglesia de Christo Sunday, July 8th, following our own services. We extend our congratulations to those brethren for the great work they are doing among the Hispanic population in their area. We felt honored to be asked to join them in this special service and enjoyed a delicious meal following the service.
Thank you to all who were able to go.

Wednesday evening, July 18, it will be my privilege to be guest speaker at the Bridgewood Church of Christ in Fort Worth at one of their Wednesday Evening Series. You will have the benefit of my efforts for the lesson by hearing it first this morning.
Wednesday evening, July 18, the services will be dedicated to singing. Come and be part of a wonderful time in singing gospel hymns.

Don’t forget to join Mack Lyon at 7:00 a.m. on Channel 27, KDFI-TV each Sunday morning. Sunday morning, July 22, Mack’s lesson will be “Maxims for Christian Living.”
He writes, “Yes! We believe the Christian life is the best way of life that’s ever been introduced to the family of man. Like any game, the “game of life” must be played by the rules. Punishment always awaits the game player who breaks a rule. Is that too confining? Too Restrictive? Is it narrow?
Join Mack and hear his answers to these penetrating questions.

In addition to “The Search,” other programs that have been mentioned to me include the one that comes on Channel 52 entitled, “Christ’s Way,” with a group of ministers discussing various biblical topics. It is sponsored by the East Arlingon Church of Christ. You can check them out on the internet by clicking on metroplex@yahoo.com. Don’t forget that another good program follows “The Search” on the same channel at 7:30 a.m. with Eddie Parish.

Our previous caller who signed up to begin lessons with Friendspeak failed to show up following our services last Sunday evening. We are still hoping to hear from her again. Keep praying for doos to open.

ARE YOU FAITHFUL?
I have a feeling that if you would ask almost any member of the church if he considers himself to be faithful he would say “yes”. It might be someone who seldom attends the public assembly on the Lord’s Day. It could be someone who does not always tell the truth. It could easily be someone who incurs debts which he never intends to pay. It might be a person who abandons his wife and children, or a wife who leaves her husband and children.
It is easy to imagine ourselves to be faithful simply because we attend all the regularly scheduled services of the church. Being faithful should certainly include faithfulness in attendance but it is far more than than.
Paul said that Christ called him to be an apostle and put him into the ministry because he counted him faithful. 1 Timothy 1:12. At the time, Paul was not yet a Christian. In fact, he was persecuting Christians even unto death. How could he then be faithful? He was faithful in the sense that he was dependable. He was reliable. He was misled and greatly mistaken in his views of Christm, but he was honestly mistaken. He was very conscientious in what he was doing. He was very zealous in pursuit of the things in which he believed.
Would I be counted faithful in that same sense? Am I dependable, reliable? Do I zealously pursue the things in which I profess to believe? Are we faithful in being true to the Book? Do we take a strong stand for what the Bible teaches? Are we faithful in moral purity? Are we faithful in our stewardship? Are we faithful in giving back to God what belongs to Him?
“Examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith”, 2 Cor. 13:5
