The Visitor – July 11, 2008
Here and There
by Wes Price
The Edgefield Iglesia de Cristo has extended their annual invitation to the Jefferson Boulevard church to be their guests at their anniversary following our morning worship services here. There will be a brief assembly in the Edgefield auditorium followed by dinner in their Fellowship Hall.
We congratulate them for their success and growth over these seven years and commend them to the Lord for continued progress in the gospel. Let’s go and extend our personal congratulations to them.

John Losher, president of the Christian Care Center, has provided us with some very useful forms for personal information. It is called “My Record Book.” We have a number of copies on the table in the foyer. Take as many as you need. John assured me that we could have more. It is a “personal” record for you to keep so that your loved ones will have that information in a convenient location for use when needed.
We discovered that in working with C.B. Henry’s estate it would have been very helpful if we could have had more personal information on him and on Doris. Do your loved ones a favor and fill this out and put it away in a place where they can find it. They will thank you a dozen fold for that little bit of help.

We were so richly blessed last Sunday with Spencer Ross’ message at the morning worship hour. My class had an additional blessing by his teaching in my place. When we have him back again for a morning worship, we will rotate him to each of our adult classes.
It will be a great blessing for us to assist him in preparing for a life of full time ministry.

Next Sunday evening, we will have a “sack supper” following the evening services. After we have finished eating, we then will return to the Community Room for some gospel singing by the Gospelaires, a quartet that’s been around a long, long time. We had them scheduled several years ago, but they were not able to come so this time we want to be inspired by their singing Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
They will have recordings available for purchase and the money is used to provide transportation for their frequent trips. Let’s bring a little extra in our sacks so we can share with them or with others who might be visiting with us.
NOTE that is NEXT SUNDAY, JULY 20, following the afternoon services.

Mack Lyon’s message on Sunday, July 20, will be “The Kingdom of Christ.” When Jesus appeared before Pilate, he asked Him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Whereupon Jesus confessed He was so. That was no threat to Pilate. Neither is Jesus as King of kings a threat to rulers and/or governments now. But He is King today over His kingdom.
Join Mack on Channel 27, KDFI-TV at 7:00 a.m. for this good message.

Confident Contentment
Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God;
let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
Psalm 143:10
When Christ becomes our central focus – our reason for existence –
contentment replaces our anxiety as well as our fears and insecurities. This cannot help but impact three of the most prevalent joy stealers in all of life.
He broadens the dimensions of our circumstances. This gives us new confidence…
He delivers us from preoccupation with others. This causes our
contentment level to rise…
He calms our fears regarding ourselves and our future. This
provides a burst of fresh hope on a daily basis.

STEVE KLOETZLI – JULY 4TH

The following is from Jack Armstrong.
If anyone knows of a job opening, my elder son, Jack sure does need a job. He got caught up in a current down sizing deal and has been out of work for several months. He has a lot of experience as an accountant and is a fine paper hanger on the side. Let me know if you know of anything. Thanks a lot!

Reflections
by Jack Armstrong
We had a wonderful day of tribute to our preacher on 6/29/08. Folks came from all over to let him know how much he is appreciated by all who know him! We had many of our old members including Wayne & Nadine Pruett, the whole Bob Hinton Clan, Vertie Lee Stanley, Connie Ashley and Maxine Miller (Vertie Lee’s care-giver, who worked so hard on 6/29/08 to help us at Wes & Alma’s party) the Jeters came to be with us, and, of course, there were many more too numerous for me to remember, but I do remember two of our very favorite folks who are Cloyce and Kay Jurecka, who always seem to make it for special occasions, and we are so glad they do, they are very special to us all.
For the first time since I’ve known him Wes Price was overwhelmed at such a showing of love for him and Alma Faye, but I don’t know why because we are always telling them how we feel about them. We promise not to say any more about the grand occasion but just wanted to let you know that it went even better than we expected.
The time is drawing nigh for our dear friend Alletha Lee to leave us and it’s going to be one of the hardest things to face we’ve had in a long long time. This is a lady we all love dearly, and will miss her sorely. What a wonderful outlook she has on life, always with that pretty smile on her face, and of all the ladies we know she seems ageless, and has looked the same to me for years. If a person wanted the explanation of a Christian, Alletha Lee would be the perfect example.
Our own Royal Smith brought us a new song at our wind up of the party in our afternoon service on 6/29/08 and since some of you didn’t hear it I want to add it to this bulletin for you to have a copy. It is to the tune of one of our old favorites “We Love the Lord”.
WE LOVE YOU WES
We love you, Wes, when you preach for us each week.
The words of God you so plainly to us speak.
Your light shines bright, and it shows the path to life.
We thank our God for you and for your wife.
Chorus:
We love you Wes, you’re a true and righteous man.
The world was blest the day your life began.
We ask God’s care and love on you each day,
And that with J.B.C.O.C you’ll stay.
