The Visitor – November 16, 2008

Here and There
by Wes Price

It was my privilege to assist in the memorial service for Robert Bell on Wednesday of this past week. I was proud of his nephew Robert, the son of his sister who did the main eulogy. This was his first funeral since becoming a full time minister. I know his mother, Marneta, and his grandparents, R.C. and Juanita were very proud of him. And I am confident that his uncle would have been proud as well.
In regard to memorials for Robert, the family has asked that donations be made to the Methodist Health System Foundation in his memory. You can mail your check to that foundation at:
P. O. Box 655999, Dallas, TX 75265-4555.
A great number of health care folks from Methodist were present for his services and his wife Jo and the family were very pleased.

The time for our Holiday party is almost upon us so you can begin calling the church office to make your reservations. Please invite a friend to come with you. The cost is $12.00 per person. I talked with Joe Hancock a few days ago and he is looking forward to being with us.

The Ladies and Mens Bible Classes will not meet on November 25th because of Thanksgiving on the following Thursday.
————-
By this time next week, I should know when my surgery will take place. I go to the surgeon on Wednesday this week to set up the date. I am already working on securing fill-in preachers in my absence. The doctor tells me that it could take from six to eight weeks for me to be able to be back into some kind of normal activities again. I’m going to fool him and be back sooner because I have a physician greater than he working on my behalf because all of you have told me of your continuing prayers. Thank you for loving me and honoring me with your concern.

Reflections
by Jack Armstrong

Well, it’s finally come and gone and we will now have to make the best of it, like it or not! The election has taken place and thank goodness all the political verbage will be over for a while. Our fervent prayer is that the new regime will take our Lord into their conferences and lead us according to his will and no other!! It’s our duty as Christians to support our government so long as it does not conflict with our Christian beliefs, and we pray that does not happen.
Well the next most important thing on our mind is the results of Bro. Wes’ visit to the back specialist and I’m sure the news was not what we all had hoped for, he has to schedule surgery in the very near future. Our constant prayer (by all) is that after surgery Bro. Wes will be back to his usual bouncy self and free from pain!!
Several of you have asked about our grandson, Josh, and he is still about the same, but his general attitude is good considering what he is going through. We want to thank all of you who have kept him in your payers. We love you so much for all of your love and concern! We have said before, you all are the best!
With conditions being what they are at this time, I have decided to put off my retirement for awhile and continue on with my “little darlins” over at the bus barn. I talked to my partner and driver the other day and she said things have been chaos since I’ve been off this week. I’m going back 11/10.
Pardon me for getting personal but some of you have asked, and so I thought I would let you know.
It is our prayer that things will be much better regarding the health problems for Edna Faye Johnston. We sure have missed you and David..
Since Ben & Betty Choate moved we pray things are going well & they are getting acquainted in their new congregation & new area. We were so happy to hear Dorothy Mooney got a good report and pray Kerry Cox is going to get a good report from the VA and that Estell Lee’s tests came out good. Keep all the Bell family in your prayers.
It is our prayer that all of our shut-ins, those in the convalescent homes and all of our sick are doing much better, we love you all dearly and miss you sorely!
May the good Lord keep you all in his loving arms. See you next time the good Lord willing.
Remember our goal…
