=================================== Here and There
by Wes Price

We extend our sympathy to the family of Ruby Faas, who was part of the Jefferson Boulevard heritage, a long time
member at Sunset.
She willed her body to medical research, and we had a lovely memorial service for her at the Brentwood church in Ft. Worth on Saturday afternoon. Her life was deeply woven into the fabric of the Sunset church, as she was active in real estate and this church profited from her assistance in buying property that was sold and its value was put back into the life of Jefferson Boulevard. She was a generous giver, and her contributions found their way into the treasury of this church, even to the day following her death. She always made sure that a check was mailed to us at the end of every quarter although she has been gone from us since l993.
She was diminutive in stature, but a giant spiritually, and we will miss her.

We had scheduled a birthday party for Daiselle for this coming Sunday afternoon, but due to her unexpected surgery, we have chosen to postpone that party until next Sunday, February 12. We hope this won’t inconvenience you too much, but it does seem only natural that she should be present for her 97th birthday party, even if it is a week late!
——————–
My wife and I had the privilege of having lunch with Helen Jones and her son, Karl, this past week. They send their warmest regards to all our folks here.
Here and There, cont.
The occasion for the visit was for Karl to pick up the sewing machine (an old Singer treadle model) that Maurine had given for me to keep before she passed away. I remember even bringing a drawer from that machine to her memorial service to share the story of how I came to have it. And, although Maurine meant for me to have it, it seem best to me for it to continue in her family. Karl told me that his daughter will be the one in line to have it.

Our Wednesday night studies are great! If you haven’t been coming, you have been missing a real in depth look at the Old Testament. We are recording the lessons from Roger, but don’t let that be an excuse for you not to be present. The recording will not pick up all the questions and comments that class members make.

FAITH ALONE? will be the title of Phil Sanders’ message this coming Sunday, February 12, 2012 on Channel 27, KDFI-TV at 7:A.M..
While everyone realizes that we are saved by faith, some say we are saved by faith alone. Is faith the only thing God requires of humans to be saved, or are there other things men must do in order to meet God’s conditions for salvation?

===================================== “Looking Forward”
It was so good to see our ol’ friend Tom Duvall back on 1/29/’12, also Charlie and Nadine Brown were there, and Ruth Manning, who has been having health problems for a couple of weeks or so. Vernon and Mary Ruth Percival were there; it was sure good to see Mary Ruth back. We sure have been missing James and Ann Schoolfield, and pray James is much better! We also pray Rhonda Ramsey’s brother, Ronnie, is doing much better, along with Rick, who was running a little temperature. Be sure to see the prayer list for others needing our prayers and concern.
Brother Wes brought us two more fine lessons on 1/29/’12: in the morning from John 17:20-21, “How To Find Truth” , and a short but meaningful devotional message in the afternoon, when we had a beautiful song service led by Brother Jacob and some of the other men in our congregation.
We have eighty plus members in our congregation at the present time, and only twenty plus men to take care of the jobs that need to be done each week. So men, don’t feel bad if you are asked to do more than one job each week, because I know our coordinators are doing the best they can to even things out. In the first place, I look at it as a privilege to do whatever we can to help out in the services. Just think what the Good Lord did for us to make it possible for us to be able to do what we do! It wouldn’t hurt if we went up and asked them if we can help out in anyway: try it, you’ll like it!
We want to thank Jacob for the great selections he makes to coincide with the lessons
Wes brings us, and to thank Brother Roger for all the lessons he brings us; I don’t know how we got by without him and Linda!
Well, that’s all for this time, and we’ll see you next time, the Good Lord willing!
Remember . . . “If you find it in your heart to care for someone else, you will have succeeded.”
We love you all. Jack and Oleta
