Here and There
by Wes Price
This has been a difficult week, having to say goodbye to two long time friends, members of the Jefferson Boulevard church. On Wednesday, Feb. 15, we joined Ada Couch, along with her children and other family members, at the DFW National Cemetery for James Couch’s memorial. It was a lovely service, as it always is at that cemetery, but this one was something special. Our own Jacob Locke sang a special song in tribute to James’ passing. He did such a splendid job and the whole family was pleased.
Then our attention was turned to another family long associated with the Jefferson Boulevard/Sunset church. Bill Hinton was a deacon in the Sunset church for many years and a dedicated servant. It was my privilege to work with him here in several capacities. His wife Marie was one of my Bible class teachers for the time I was here as Educational Director. His daughter, Donna, was one of my students in the Young Professional Class, and daughter, Vickie, was one of my teenagers in my work as Youth Minister. And, not to be outdone by any of these relationships, I have come to be virtually a member of the Hinton clan, having performed marriage ceremonies for some of them, spoken at numerous funeral services, and I became closely associated with that clan in wonderful, close fellowship.
Bill was a great help to his younger siblings and they will not soon forget how he benefited their lives.
Our sincerest sympathy is extended to each of these families, and my personal thanks to all of you who attended their

memorial services.

We will still postpone our party for Daiselle’s 97th birthday party until we can be sure of her being able to attend. She is making progress, but still no date has been mentioned about her being discharged from Presbyterian Village. Keep praying for her.

Please join me in remembering the names of the prospects that David Tarbet gave us last week who are moving closer to becoming new Christians or are being restored to faithful service by the encouragement and teaching that David and his son are doing on Connecticut. They are Fred, Kim, Patty, Rosanna, Michelle, and Lisa. We hope to hear soon about changes in their lives.

Join Phil Sanders on Sunday morning, February 24, for his message, “Can Christians Be Lost?” Some say once a Christian is saved, he can never be lost. Others believe that a Christian can fall away from his faith and lose his salvation. What does the Bible say? What does man have to do to maintain his relationship with God?
IN SEARCH OF THE LORD’S WAY can be seen each Sunday morning at 7:00 a.m. on Channel 27, KDFI-TV

“Looking Forward”

My son Jack sent me some notes from God’s Minute on the internet. We shared some of the letters last week, and here are three more. A Sunday School teacher wanted the children to feel closer to God, so she had them write a letter to Him. A child wrote:
“Dear God, Did you mean for the giraffe to look like that, or was it an accident?”
Another wrote:
“Dear God, I went to this wedding and they kissed right in church! Is that okay?”
Still another wrote:
“Dear God, If you watch me in church Sunday, I’ll show you my new shoes!”
Out of the mouths of babes!
We’ll see you later, the Good Lord willing.
Remember . . . “Whatever you are, be a good one!”
We love you all. Jack and Oleta

I Have Never Known:
A farmer who failed in life because he went to Bible study.

A farmer who became poverty stricken because he refused to plow on Sunday, but went to worship.

A businessman who lost his business for closing on Sundays.

Anyone who was too tired to worship on Sunday and also too tired to go to work on Monday.

A strong spiritual Christian who neglected the assemblies of the church consistently without repenting.

Have you?
